Question What’s Your Favorite Piece in Your Scripophily Collection?
I’m new to scripophily and love seeing the variety of stock and bond certificates out there. Some have incredible artwork, others tell fascinating stories of financial booms, busts, and forgotten industries.
For those who collect—what’s your favorite piece in your collection and why? Is it the design, the history, or maybe a personal connection to the company? Would love to hear your stories and see some pictures if you have them!
My favorite piece in my collection has to be the 1944 USSR 100 Ruble National Defense Military Bond. It’s a powerful artifact from WWII, issued under Stalin to finance the Soviet war effort. The historical significance alone makes it incredible—this bond represents a time when the USSR was pushing back against Nazi Germany, relying on citizens to fund the fight through war loans.
The design is just as striking as the history behind it. Soviet bonds from this era often feature bold typography, intricate engravings, and patriotic imagery, reflecting the intense nationalism of the time. I love it because it’s more than just a financial document—it’s a piece of wartime propaganda, a testament to economic mobilization, and a direct connection to one of the most pivotal conflicts in history.
